For most of my years on earth I had the idea that I was somehow gypped in the creativity department compared to the rest of my family.  My parents and brothers all play instruments, sing, and write music and my sister can paint the most amazing pieces on a whim.  I was a mediocre music student, can’t carry a tune, and wouldn’t be able to draw a straight line to save my life.

Then one day a few years ago, a strange thing happened and something sparked.   I took my little point and shoot camera around my apartment complex and starting seeing things in a different way than I had before.  The pictures were “meh” at most, but I was proud of them.  I realized that I somehow spent hours wandering around getting lost in taking pictures and that made me happy.

I’ve been able to upgrade my equipment since then, thanks to my supportive and encouraging best friend/husband, and have continued to try and capture our lives on film.   My mother has started a business in Florida doing photography for weddings and other events and I continue to learn things here and there from her (click here to check out her website!).  I’m reading a lot and might take a class or two one day if I can, but for now it’s practice makes less than perfect ;)

All I know is my life hasn’t always been the easiest, but it has turned out better than I could have ever imagined.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s “Do what makes you happy.”  Taking pictures makes me happy and I’m giving what’s produced to you.   Take it or leave it.
